The refrain that child rape is a reality in the Church is twice wrong: let’s get it straight — they weren’t children and they weren’t raped”
_ Catholic League President Bill Donohue, in a NYT ad that places the blame for Catholic sex-abuse scandals on homosexual adolescents who were “asking for it” instead of the priests inflicting the abuse.
Let that sink in for a minute or two.
You can read the full ad text here. It is lengthy, and it is full of excuses and “wah, wah, everyone picks on us” indignation…..what it is blatantly missing is any hint of remorse or condemnation for the acts of grown men with minors of either sex. According to Donohue, the fault lies entirely with the victims ( who in his eyes are not victims but seducers). Never mind the fact that priests who were shunted from diocese to diocese were not advertised to their new parishes with a “Welcome our new molester, Father X” party………..did children across the country just flock to their uncontrollable sexyness because they had “easy mark” sensors installed in their pubescent brains?
WTF????????
Bill Donohue, I crown thee ‘Douche of the Month”.

I checked out that website……. buncha garbage….. hardly worth reading. The Jehovah’s spread the same kind of crap. Mormons too. I just don’t believe in religion…. and sometimes I feel that , if there is a God, neither would she.
I was raised Catholic and realized at a very young age that I just wasn’t buying it.
People like Bill Donohue perfectly illustrate why I left that church in particular and religion in general. Maybe I’m nuts, but I find it arrogant to think that if God in his/her infinite wisdom saw fit to put so many different races and ethnicities on the earth, he/she probably allowed for different religious ways for people to come to him/her. The idea that just ONE religion is true and all others are paths to hell is very arrogant.
And isn’t it an interesting paradox that a lot of the same tried-and-true followers of Glenn Beck ( a Mormon by conversion) voice a distrust of Mitt Romney because he is a Mormon ( by birth) ?
Things that make you go “Hmmmmmm”…………..
First time I heard of Donahue was when he attacked Joan Osborne, saying her hit song “What if God Was One of Us?” was anti Catholic because it mentioned the pope. He was a TDR [tete du Richard--fake French for "dickhead"--my own joke!] then, and he’s only got TDRier since.
LOL – I am so stealing that from you….”tete du Richard” is so classy! My high school French teacher, Madame Wilson, would be SO proud!
Thanks, Tom!

Calling this prick a douche is being very generous…..it is people like him that make me puke when the word catholic is mentioned….sorry guys if I offend….
I whole-heartedly agree with you, lobotero……no apologies needed.
I know he doesn’t speak for all Catholics, and it is a damn shame they’re allowing him to give that impression. That’s a taint you can’t escape.
I find it hard to believe that Bill Does not realize that a good number of Catholics cannot stand him, and are embarrassed by him. I must say, as a former catholic and a staunch atheist, Bill……. keep fighting the fight. No, really. You are are imploding the Catholic church from within. And for that I applaud you. Douche bag.
