Today, both Sarah Palin and John McCain (separately) suggested that Barack Obama should drop Joe Biden from the ticket in favor of Hilary Clinton due to Biden’s controversial “Chains” comment this week.

And  Jay Carney swatted that idea down like the inconsequential bug it was:

“Yes. And that was settled a long, long time ago. And while I appreciate — I have great admiration for and respect for and a long relationship with Senator John McCain, but one place I would not go for advice on vice presidential running mates is to Senator McCain.”

And in case you missed it, let me once again post my assessment of the whole Biden/chains flap with this handy-dandy e-card I made with my own crafty Negress mind:

‘Nuff said.

Funny, Carney’s comment was almost word for word my reaction to hearing this as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if half the reporters in the room with McCain were thinking the same thing were thinking the same thing.
